In the past, each individual collaboration tool has specialised in one aspect, such as CRM, messaging, accounting or project management. As a consequence, it can be difficult to find a tool that gives you the freedom to manage all these areas without spending a large amount of time customising them.
Creation Agency has been using a comprehensive and diverse set of collaboration tools from 37Signals within our marketing services team, and are set to roll out to the rest of the business. The 37Signals system breaks down each area of business into a separate pillars of specialism. Rather than attempting to be a ‘jack of all trades’ in one system, 37Signals delivers separate software for each job, creating a suite of class-leading products that work seamlessly together.
For CRM, we use Highrise. This gives us the opportunity to store contacts, categorise leads and deals, and monitor the progress of a contact right from the start of a relationship. Once a relationship is established and there is a plan of action in place, we quickly integrate into Basecamp.
Basecamp delivers project and resource management for effective collaboration between staff and with clients. Basecamp gives us the opportunity to share files, assign tasks and centralise feedback. We find it's a far more effective tool than conventional project management systems.
Further to Basecamp and Highrise, we deploy task and activity management through Backpack. Backpack emulates an intranet and an extranet, allowing us to create our own web pages for either private or public use. It's a quick and efficient way to share information across the team. Backpack also gives allows us to maintain documents, conversations and schedules.
Finally, for instant messaging we use Campfire. Campfire is designed for group chats and meetings.
