Where have all the shoppers gone?
12th May 2010
So Christmas retail wasn’t as bad as everyone thought, and the media keep talking about the economic recovery...but where have all the shoppers gone? Chief executive of Kingfisher, Ian Cheshire believes consumers look like they have gone into hibernation, and he may well be right. With shaky election results leaving people questioning which party will be tackling the deficit consumers have gone to ground. We can’t just blame the government and the economy though; I’m pretty sure the chilly weather over the last week or so hasn’t helped either. I know that I have put a hold on buying my summer wardrobe until the weather warms up, although the sunglasses have been dusted off.
It’s not all doom and gloom though, summer is on its way and many big retailers are making waves in the international markets which is bringing an air of optimism to the sector. With baby steps being taken to get things on the high street moving once again, and our newly formed coalition government seeking to form a stable base for economic growth, companies such as Creation Agency have the tools and know how to help you make the most out of your retail space.
