My Notebook Hierarchy.

notebooks.jpgIt’s about time we talked about my strict Notebook Hierarchy. If you could just open the picture on the left in a separate browser window.

You will be needing it as a reference.OK working from the far left we have my Day Book, this is the largest of the notebooks and contains my day-to-day notes on jobs. This particular model is a Black and Red ‘Science Book’ and has alternate graphpaper pages and lined pages. Highlights include a list of Brian Amey’s nicknames and a lovely sketch of Tom Marrows I did in a really boring meeting. It’s probably the least favorite of my collection.

The next book is my Meeting Book. This is the newest edition and was purchased for a pitch we won in Leicester, so it has a lucky element. It’s your standard Moleskine and don’t worry, I know how much of a cliche it is for a designer to use one. The only highlight of this piece is it’s neatness, as it’s relatively new I’ve tried to write really neat on the first few pages.

My Book of Funny Stuff is next. This breaks the mould as far as asthetics go for the range. In here I note down all the funny stuff that happens to me during my hilarous days at work. I write a lot of stuff in here Brainy says, it’s the kind of gold you can’t make up. This is my most personal of all the books.

And finally introducing my Ideas Book. In here I write my ideas for everything when they hit me, the last thing I put in there was an idea for a Maps video that unfortunately was a day late, and in the meantime they made the terrible video for To The Sky. There’s other rejected projects in here including an entire treatment for a game Codemasters asked me to develop and then rejected, and also a book on Tramps that the homeless persons charity Shelter apparently found offensive.

So there you go, that’s my Notebook Hierarchy, I’ve been meaning to post this for a long time. Thanks for reading it.
