Nintendo. It’s interesting that with all the next gen hype, this years best selling console and the tip for xmas No.1 is not a high definition machine from either of the two giants, but the Wii from Nintendo. With over 11 million units sold the Wii is just ahead of the 360 with the PS3 way behind with less than 5 million sold worldwide. This must go down as the year that social gaming became truly recognised as a market leading segment, with Microsoft and Sony relying on traditional gamers growing up with the new technology Nintendo have discovered a whole new way to introduce a video game into the home. (I’ll always treasure the image of my Nan playing tennis on my Wii). Personally I’m watching how the PS3 catalogue develops over the next year, as some of the new titles like Heavenly Sword show what the hardware can do with a decent development team, but sadly a lot of the current titles are ports and suffer in the process, and with titles like Halo and BioShock I’m spending more time on my 360. Even with the new football games after careful review of each version, to my surprise, I opted for Fifa on the Xbox over the PS3, as it looked smoother. What are Sony to do? No big titles, no force feedback, expensive box and games?
Found this interesting song on a gamer blog. (Should amuse any 360 owners).
